The work of Charlotte McCurdy, a 2018 graduate of the M.I.D. program, is featured in the current Cooper Hewitt Design Triennial.

In her RISD thesis, “After Ancient Sunlight,” McCurdy developed a carbon-negative, algae-based plastic and created a raincoat out of the material. That raincoat is included in the Triennial, which highlights designers collaborating with nature. It is also included in a connected show at the Cube design museum in the Netherlands.

For more, check out McCurdy’s recent interview on Core77.

The Triennial is on view through January 2020.
